Call me a crazy optimist, but reading together this canonical quote and the final gesture of Mycroft in RF (which speaks of thinking and deducing, maybe worrying, but not of grieving!), I still hope we’ll end up discovering that it wasn’t him the one who screwed up it all… (And yes, I know they cut it off in the PBS’ edition, but it was such a small hint, that I’m not overly concerned they didn’t mind to eliminate it).

I don’t think it’s crazy optimism at all. I think it’s rather likely. It is, after all, impossible to take what a Holmes says at face value. And Mycroft never has any less that six ulterior motives at any given time.

There’s a lot of ambiguity in Reichenbach regarding how much Mycroft knows. The first time I watched the episode, during his final scene I was worried he was going to cry out, making noise in the Diogenes Club is own form of extreme suffering…but he didn’t. He made that hand gesture. You’re right, it’s a tiny clue, and I am sad that the PBS airing cut it. But needs must, I suppose.

As we have been assured that we will be seeing lots of Mycroft next series, so in order for the brothers to still be associated, series 3 will give us either a Mycroft vindicated or a Mycroft redeemed, and I’m leaning towards the former. I know Moriarty’s brilliant, a genius, Sherlock’s equal…but is he clever enough to play Sherlock’s older, clever brother? Both brothers at once? Highly improbable.

I stand by my theory. I just cannot envision a world where Mycroft makes those elementary mistakes. He may not be infallible, but there is something more going on here. The Holmes boys are up to something, and I think it’s about time we saw them work together.

Greg: You know I hate dinner parties and evening wear.

Mycroft: *beams*

Greg: I’m doing this for you but only once, you hear?

Mycroft: *beams*

Greg: Stop grinning like a fool for god’s sake!

Mycroft: *beams*

Greg: …You’re not listening. *pouts*

Mycroft: *makes some cuteness-induced noises as brain turns into mush*

Tomorrow is the day of the Judicial Review to see whether Undershaw (the former home of Arthur Conan Doyle, creator of Sherlock Holmes) can be saved.

We desperately need all the support we can get.

You can help by:

1) Checking out the website:

Lewis

Some things I love about the British TV show Lewis:

Hathaway tiptoes around Lewis, he is being careful about not saying the wrong thing, about what he considers not to be his business to know. He has become more confident and makes more jokes now, but he is still tiptoeing, which I personally find realistic and endearing.

There is a multitude of glances that are ‘is everything allright?’ glances, as well as ‘you are being clever’ glances and of course ‘I really like you’ glances.

Lewis and Hathaway give each other space and wait for the other to bring up what is bothering them or what they are now comfortable enough to talk about. There is not nearly as much prodding and demanding to know what is wrong as in many other shows. They wait and they love each other in a quiet manner.

Lewis and Hathaway walk side by side all the time and they sometimes call each other by their first names.

Their relationship develops steadily and beautifully, you have to read into their sentances for more meaning and it is subtle and wonderful.

What I like best about Sherlock & Mycroft’s relationship (and it’s all inspired by ‘The Private Lie of Sherlock Holmes’) is the antagonism mixed up with genuine care. It feels like a very real family relationship!                                                           - Mark Gatiss on the Holmes Brothers

Instant nostalgia post.  Every single time I hear this song, to this day, I think of nothing but Matilda.  …and every time I watch the movie I want to tell Danny DeVito what a great director he is, but that’s beside the point.
